DMX on Life Support, Tributes Pour In
Rapper DMX is reportedly in a grave condition after he collapsed at his home last Friday night, 2 April.
In a statement released by his longtime lawyer and friend, Murray Richman, on Tuesday, 6 April, the “What’s My Name” hitmaker – real name Earl Simmons – was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at White Plains Hospital, New York.
According to reports, the reason behind DMX’s hospitalisation was a heart attack, which was allegedly triggered by a substance overdose.
The 50-year-old songwriter is no stranger to talking openly about his drug abuse in his music throughout his career – he served a stint in rehab in 2019 following his imprisonment for a 2017 tax fraud conviction.
However, sources claim the doctors say that Simmons’ prognosis is “not good” as he is in a “vegetative state”, prompting an outpouring of support from across the globe.
One fan tweeted: “DMX will survive. And will make the strongest comeback.”
His family have flown in to New York, and now face a difficult decision regarding the life of the prominent ‘90s rapper.
